Just 6:30 AM West Haven Firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Gilbert Street in the Allingtown Section of the city. Firefighters from Allingtown arrived on scene and transmitted a second alarm on arrival for heavy fire on the top floor of a 2.5 private dwelling. While in the process of battling the blaze, firefighters were able to rescue a civilian from the building. All three districts of West Haven were called to the scene to battle the blaze. Firefighters were able to make a good push and knock down after about an hour on scene.
